God's Wife

An eye witness account from New York City ,
on a cold day in December, some years ago:
A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before
a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted,
peering through the window, and shivering with cold.
A lady approached the young boy and said,
"My, but you're in
such deep thought staring in that window!"
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,
"was the
boy's reply.
The lady took him by the hand,
went into the store, and asked the

clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy.
She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel.
He quickly brought them
to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and,

removing her gloves,
knelt down, washed his
little feet,
and dried them with
the towel.
By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks.
Placing a pair
upon the boy's feet,
she purchased him a pair of shoes.
She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.
She patted him on the head and said,
"No doubt, you will be more

comfortable now."
As she turned to go,
the astonished kid caught her by the hand,
and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes,
asked her.

"Are you God's wife?"

Base ball

On my way home one day,
I stopped to watch a Little League base ball

game that was being played in a park near my home.
As I sat down behind

the bench on the first-base line,
I asked one of the boys what the score

was. "We're behind 14 to nothing," he answered with a smile.
"Really," I said.
"I have to say you don't look

very discouraged." "Discouraged?",
the boy asked with a puzzled look on his

face... "Why should we be discouraged?
We haven't been up to bat

yet."

Story

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most
caring child.
The winner was: A four-year-old child, whose next door neighbor was an elderly
gentleman, who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little
boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just
sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the
little boy just said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

The Teacher

Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of
a family.
One little boy in the picture had a different hair color than

the other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted.
A little girl said, "I know all about adoption, I was

adopted.." "What does it mean to be adopted?", asked another child.
"It means", said the girl, "that you grew in your

mommy's heart instead of her tummy!"

Loving One Onother

Whoever says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness even until now.. Whoever loves his brother abides in the Light, and in It or in him there is no occasion for stumbling or cause for error or sin. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walking in the dark; he is straying and does not perceive or know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

I am Scared to Die

Wherever you go, killings are there, war here and war there. I just read a news from Philippines today, Muslim rebels attacked several towns in the southern Philippines and killed at least 34 people. The attacks by hundreds of guerrillas on Mindanao island also caused 7,000 people to flee their homes. Between 200 and 500 MILF fighters cut off a main highway and raided up to five coastal towns in the Lanao del Norte province early yesterday, burning houses and shooting or hacking to death civilians and taking others captive. Many people fled for safety, jumping into small boats to escape. There was another ambush and killed at least three troops, including a lieutenant-colonel.

Some History of the Olympics

A History of the Olympics
According to legend, the ancient Olympic Games were founded by Heracles (the Roman Hercules), a son of Zeus. Yet the first Olympic Games for which we still have written records were held in 776 BCE (though it is generally believed that the Games had been going on for many years already). At this Olympic Games, a naked runner, Coroebus (a cook from Elis), won the sole event at the Olympics, the stade - a run of approximately 192 meters (210 yards). This made Coroebus the very first Olympic champion in history.
The ancient Olympic Games grew and continued to be played every four years for nearly 1200 years. In 393 CE, the Roman emperor Theodosius I, a Christian, abolished the Games because of their pagan influences.
Approximately 1500 years later, a young Frenchmen named Pierre de Coubertin began their revival. Coubertin is now known as le Rénovateur. Coubertin was a French aristocrat born on January 1, 1863. He was only seven years old when France was overrun by the Germans during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. Some believe that Coubertin attributed the defeat of France not to its military skills but rather to the French soldiers' lack of vigor.* After examining the education of the German, British, and American children, Coubertin decided that it was exercise, more specifically sports, that made a well-rounded and vigorous person.
Coubertin's attempt to get France interested in sports was not met with enthusiasm. Still, Coubertin persisted. In 1890, he organized and founded a sports organization, Union des Sociétés Francaises de Sports Athlétiques (USFSA). Two years later, Coubertin first pitched his idea to revive the Olympic Games. At a meeting of the Union des Sports Athlétiques in Paris on November 25, 1892, Coubertin stated,
Let us export our oarsmen, our runners, our fencers into other lands. That is the true Free Trade of the future; and the day it is introduced into Europe the cause of Peace will have received a new and strong ally. It inspires me to touch upon another step I now propose and in it I shall ask that the help you have given me hitherto you will extend again, so that together we may attempt to realise [sic], upon a basis suitable to the conditions of our modern life, the splendid and beneficent task of reviving the Olympic Games.**
His speech did not inspire action. Though Coubertin was not the first to propose the revival of the Olympic Games, he was certainly the most well-connected and persistent of those to do so. Two years later, Coubertin organized a meeting with 79 delegates who represented nine countries. He gathered these delegates in an auditorium that was decorated by neoclassical murals and similar additional points of ambiance. At this meeting, Coubertin eloquently spoke of the revival of the Olympic Games. This time, Coubertin aroused interest.
The delegates at the conference voted unanimously for the Olympic Games. The delegates also decided to have Coubertin construct an international committee to organize the Games. This committee became the International Olympic Committee (IOC; Comité Internationale Olympique) and Demetrious Vikelas from Greece was selected to be its first president. Athens was chosen for the revival of the Olympic Games and the planning was begun.
1896 - Athens, Greece
The very first modern Olympic Games opened in the first week of April 1896. Since the Greek government had been unable to fund construction of a stadium, a wealthy Greek architect, Georgios Averoff, donated one million drachmas (over $100,000) to restore the Panathenaic Stadium, originally built in 330 BCE, with white marble for the Olympic Games.
Since the Games were not well publicized internationally, contestants were not nationally chosen but rather came individually and at their own expense. Some contestants were tourists who happened to be in the area during the Games. Athletes wore their athletic club uniform rather than a national team one.
Pole vaulting, sprints, shot put, weight lifting, swimming, cycling, target shooting, tennis, marathon and gymnastics were all events at the first Olympics. The swimming events were held in the Bay of Zea in the Aegean Sea. Gold medalist, Alfred Hoyos Guttmann described it: "I won ahead of the others with a big lead, but my greatest struggle was against the towering twelve-foot waves and the terribly cold water." (Guttmann, pg. 19) Approximately 300 athletes participated, representing thirteen countries.

In Mindanao, Philippine troops regain control of villages

By Al Jacinto, Special to The Times August 14, 2008ZAMBOANGA CITY, PHILIPPINES -- Government forces Wednesday took back control of more than a dozen villages abandoned by retreating Muslim rebels in the troubled southern island of Mindanao, military officials said. Philippine troops, backed by attack planes and artillery, expelled hundreds of Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters who seized 15 villages across North Cotabato province last week, they said.We have totally reclaimed the villages occupied by rebels. But troops are still clearing the areas of land mines left behind by the MILF forces," said Lt. Col. Julieto Ando, a spokesman for the army's 6th Infantry Division. Rebels occupied the villages in the mainly Christian province, saying they are part of a Muslim homeland that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's government last month agreed to establish in negotiations brokered by Malaysia. The Supreme Court stopped the formal signing of the accord after politicians and lawmakers opposed to the deal filed a petition. The government issued an ultimatum last week for the guerrillas to withdraw, but the rebels held their ground and accused armed militias of sparking the clashes in the towns of Aleosan, Pikit and Midsayap. The police and the military accused the rebels of pillaging civilian areas and attacking government forces after North Cotabato opposed its inclusion in the deal with the rebels, which would cede part of the province to the autonomous Muslim homeland.A weeklong battle between rebel and government forces killed more than two dozen soldiers and guerrillas and forced about 160,000 civilians to flee their homes. The United Nations said Wednesday that it was alarmed by the humanitarian crisis in Mindanao caused by the fighting and appealed for restraint and protection of civilians. Ando, the military spokesman, said rebel forces had retreated to the hinterlands. Authorities said they would file charges against rebel commander Ameril Umbra Kato. There have been no reports of fresh clashes, Ando said, adding that many civilians displaced by the fighting wanted to return home."They want to attend to their farms and return to their normal life, but land mines and unexploded munitions are posing a danger to civilians," Ando said. "Troops are carefully clearing the areas, slowly and inch by inch, to really ensure that no explosives are left behind." The rebel group said it had ordered its forces to withdraw to avoid clashes with government troops. "We have complied with the agreement between the cease-fire committees to reposition our forces to avoid further clashes," said Eid Kabalu, a senior rebel leader. "Had militias not attacked the MILF, there would have been no hostilities in North Cotabato." Kabalu said the group had ordered the rebels to defend themselves against military attacks. Mohagher Iqbal, the rebels' chief peace negotiator, said Tuesday that the hostilities could spread to other parts of Mindanao and were threatening the peace talks.

Another Stage of life

My pictures during my wedding. When my parents and relatives heard that I will get marry they really expects that I will marry there in the Philippines, my sisters was so excited to be one of the bridesmaids or who will be my maid of honor. But when I explain to them that the wedding will be there, there were all disappointed some of them understand the situation some are not. Am a little bet sad I wished all of them can understand me and happy about my discussions.
Anyway I wanted marry in the Philippines too but my fiancée visa application was just approved. I need to fly going here and marry my husband before 30 days past. Well!! Am here now and already married.

Filipina are very Suppportive

I was surprised when I arrived in the church there are several Filipina there already and brought their special food for my weeding. When they saw me they introduce themselves since I don’t know them yet. Wow how good they are, some help for the decoration and some help to prepare for food, and some helps for my beauty, ate Gen was there too she was my maid of honor and she was my roommate and co-worker in Mountain View College. The Filipina support and their husband was there too, even I don’t know them yet but they came it makes smile and I was so happy because of them, seem I have a family here already

My activities before

Looking back my days when I was in the Philippines, it was fun and full of meaning, friends are always there, you can go where ever you want to go “that if you have money” The happiness of being single and the happiness of being married is different. I just miss my days my friends in different group and my family huhu!

Mountain View College

This is the picture sometimes during nighttime or early in the morning or late afternoon in our school the Mountain View College. This school is an Adventist school from kindergarten up to college. It’s cold and always raining there sometimes, the school is on the top of the mountain surrounded with forest, most students and faculty stayed inside the campus. They have their own electricity because they build two electric plants.

I love camping

I love camping always. We used to assist campers every camping I was a member of a rescue 741 and an invested division director for a master guide club. Every summer we have Northern Mindanao camping always and our group is always invited to come and assist them.
Well I have some Companion who is here in the US already and one of them is Ate gen. I am hoping we can do camping just like we did in Philippines and that’s fun.

Hiking

Walking is a good and relaxing exercise, it helps to sleep well during nighttime and it will help to activate your appetite. That is why I love to do walking during morning sometimes, but since I arrive here in USA I don’t have enough exercise anymore, my husband usually left early in the morning and it make me tired to get up so I stay late on bed, and now my tummy is a little bet big, time to have exercise again.
My husband and I love to go hiking specially Saturday afternoon.

Sliding Rock

When Denver visited me in the Philippines he brought several Post Card for North Carolina and I really loved the pictures. And dream to visit those places when I arrived here. And now when where here I am so exited to visit the sliding rock. Wow looks so nice and fun, my husband lined up there to slide too, but I did not lined to go slide those stuff makes me scared. I started to love this place

My Camera

When I was in the Philippines I love taking pictures always. I always love to have picture every event of my life so that when I am already old I can still see and remember my activities during my youth days. One time I a film camera to my roommate and that camera was very special for her. I tried to keep the camera but someday stool it, I was so scared and I shared my problem to my brother about the camera. He gave me money to buy for the camera for her and I will but a camera for me too so that I will not borrow to anybody anymore. The camera that I bought is film camera and after one year I don’t like to use it anymore so I gave it to my mother. And my boyfriend who is my husband now gave me a digital camera I was so happy but during our seniors pictures taking last march 2008 somebody stool it again. I was disappointed because I really need the camera for my graduation day. So what I did I bought my last money for the digital camera again hehehe. When I left in Philippines I leave my camera to my sisters. Now I don’t have camera anymore but am using my husband camera. Hope no one will steal it.

Organic Vegetables

Our renters gave us a bunch of green beans and purple beans. My husband let them used the space to make them garden there. We love the vegetables because it an organic vegetables. Our other neighbor came by in our house and ask gave lots of beans from their garden again, and she said we can help her picked the beans at their garden and they give us a share. Wow we got lots of organic vegetables in the house already. I have lots of Zucchini, squash, cucumber and other leafy vegetables. Last night we are too busy canning the beans for the winter. Its fun I haven’t tried a canned bean yet. I will try on winter.

Their Favorite

I forgot what kind of a recipe is this but to tell you frankly this is my first time. It a kind of mixed vegetable, hot salsa, sauce, some corn cheap and brown rice too. Some people are very curious to know I like this kind of food. At first I ate with my husband’s plate, I felt shy coz some of our companions are watching us, so I decided to get my own plate. Any the food so taste good and healthy but its not my favorite food so I did not eat a lot. I always love to eat rice with meat or fish or vegetables. But not mixed foods.

A rat? or not?

It looks like a big rat, but this is not a rat, I forgot what is the name of this kind of an animal they said it usually hang with the use of his tail on the tree and sleep there. We wondered early in the morning we found it in our steps. And there’s a little bet blood where the animal lie down. My husband wondered and we don’t any Idea why that kind of animal died in our house.

Kids Style

I always watch the kids of my husband’s brother. Sometimes it makes me tired special when I am thinking one of them will pop on their diaper and sometimes the two will pop. And after that asked food and you don’t know what kind of food they like or the parents allow them to eat that kind of a food. Sometimes kids are crying looking for their parents. But when they get tired that the time I love because they will sleep. Look at them they sleep.

Hooters

We eat Chicken with that morning at Henderson and it’s so delicious, after eating we went to a mall and go shopping. At 6 o’clock I felt hungry I told to my husband to back to chicken wings because I like the way they prepare. But its a little bet far so my said we will just eat at Hooters place since they serve chicken wings too. So we went there. When I arrive there I saw they Hooters they were clothes like mine too hehe may I need to apply there.

But lots of things I don’t like on that thing already first is we don’t know how to connect the computer and wireless printer, we read the direction but not really clear were trying to call the printer company and we receive good answered but still the computer did not really work good. It’s so slow when we connect it to the Internet. So the laptop and the printer we returned it last Friday. Last Wednesday he bought cell phone for me again as a surprise, wow so sweet but seems the battery can easily gets low. I am planning to return it again. Any body here can suggest?

Our reading today

Equal and exact justice to all men, of whatever state or persuasion, religious, or political freedom of religion freedom of the press, and freedom of person under the protection of the habeas corpus, and trial by juries impartially selected. These principles form the bright constellation, which has gone before us and guided our steps through an age of revolution and reformation. The wisdom of our sages and blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment. They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction, the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten retrace out steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty, and safety.

Excerpted from the first Inaugural Address of Thomas Jefferson, March 4 1801.
