Stress is a “physical or psychological stimulus that can produce mental or physiological reactions that may lead to illness” (Selye (2007, p. 1). Furthermore, Gill, Smith, Dumke, Larson, and Segal (2007, p. 1) defined stress as a “response to events that upset our personal balance in some way.”
The entrance of the 21st century has brought a lot of changes. Reports had been published showing the different levels of stress. The study of Torabi, Yang, and Li (2007) reported that a great number of American and Chinese students are experiencing stress. In the United Kingdom, a report was likewise published that the biggest problem in their country is stress (Berry, 2006). In the Philippines, similar problem was also reported by Tan (2006). Filipinos experience stress and the symptoms are headaches, abdominal pains, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. InMountain View College (MVC), ValenciaCity, reports had been out that the college cafeteria working students were stressed (Langot, 2005). Considering the whole population of MVC, Apolinario (2006) found a moderate stress level among theStudents (Philippines).
